Chimney  Inspection

The In-Depth Process of Advanced Chimney Checks

A Level I chimney inspection includes a visual check of the fireplace and chimney without any special equipment or climbing up on the roof. The inspector will check the chimney and accessible flue with a flashlight, look for damage, obstructions, creosote buildup/soot, and tell you if the chimney requires sweeping or maintenance/repair.

A Level III chimney inspection typically involves disassembly of parts of the chimney or fireplace. This is usually done by a chimney/fireplace contractor. Any chimney/fireplace being used regularly should be checked yearly. They should also be checked after any seismic activity.
